Carex careyana Torrey ex Dewey. Section: [26dd] Section 21 Careyanae. Carey's Sedge. Phen: May-Jun. Hab: Nutrient-rich moist forests, mostly over calcareous rocks. Dist: NY west to MI and IA, south to sw. NC, AL and MO.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Naczi (1999b) reported a chromosome number of n = 34.
