Carex backii F. Boott. Section: [26kkk] Section 44 Phyllostachyae. Common name: Back's Sedge. Phenology: May-Jul. Habitat: Rocky woodlands and forests, cliff bases. Distribution: QC west to BC, south to NJ, PA, IA, and CO. Historic in our area (NJ, PA). Occurring further north in a few scattered areas of central NY, but otherwise no longer considered extant in our flora region.
