Carex timida Naczi & B.A. Ford. Section: [26kkk] Section 44 Phyllostachyae. Common name: Timid Sedge. Phenology: Apr-Jul. Habitat: Calcareous, dry to mesic woodlands and forests. Distribution: Scattered and disjunct, from OH, IN, s. IL, and s. MO to KY, TN, n. AL, and AR.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Related to C. jamesii and C. juniperorum, from which it was separated by Naczi & Ford (2001).

Synonymy : = Ar, FNA23, Il, K4, NSProv, POWO, Tn, Naczi & Ford (2001); < Carex jamesii Schwein. — C, F, G, Catling, Reznicek, & Crins (1993), Mackenzie (1931-1935). Basionym: Carex timida Naczi & B.A.Ford 2001
