Habitat: Dry hillsides, outcrops. Distribution: E. TX, nc. TX. s. TX, w. TX, and s. NM south into Mexico; disjunct in subequatorial South America (n. Argentina, Uruguay, s. Brazil, n. Chile, and Paraguay).
