Arabis adpressipilis (M. Hopkins) Al-Shehbaz. Common name: Slender Rockcress, Hairy Rockcress. Phenology: Apr-May; May-Jun. Habitat: Thin soils near outcrops of mafic or other rock weathering to nutrient-rich soils. Distribution: OH to IL, south to c. TN and AR; disjunct east of the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: A. pycnocarpa and A. adpressipilis are related to but clearly specifically distinct from A. hirsuta (Linnaeus) Scopoli of Europe and A. eschscholtziana Andrzejowski of w. North America. Al-Shebbaz (2017) discusses the rationale for treating A. pycnocarpa and A. adpressipilis at species rank.
