Asplenium curtissii L. Underwood. Curtiss’s Spleenwort. Phen: Jan-Dec. Hab: Moist, shaded limestone rocks. Dist: Endemic in s. and c. peninsular FL.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: A. curtissii is a largely sterile hybrid (derived from hybridization of A. abscissum and A. verecundum, its chromosome complement symbolized AVV) forming large populations by vigorous vegetative reproduction and apogamous spore production; it also backcrossed with its parent A. abscissum to produce the species A. plenum. For these reasons it seems best to regard this taxon as a "species of hybrid origin" (without the “hybrid ×” in its name).

Synonymy: = S13, Sf; = Asplenium ×curtissii Underw. (pro sp.) – Fl1, FNA2, K1, K3, K4, WH3
