Bromus latiglumis (Shear) A.S. Hitchcock. Common name: Riverbank Brome, Auricled Brome, Hairy Woodbrome, Flanged Brome. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Alluvial soils along rivers. Distribution: ME to MT, south to NC and OK. In NC apparently only along large rivers flowing west through the Appalachians into the Mississippi River drainage, notably the New and the French Broad.
ID notes: Flowering many weeks later than co-occurring B. pubescens.
