Bromus nottowayanus Fernald. Satin Brome, Nottoway River Brome, Virginia Brome. Phen: Jun-Aug. Hab: Moist forests, especially along small stream bottoms. Dist: The range of this species is poorly known, owing to confusion between it, B. pubescens and B. latiglumis. It is apparently known from MD, VA, and NC, west to TN, IL, IN, MO, and AR. Reported for Mountains of SC (Pickens County) (Bradley et al. [in prep.]). Probably more common than portrayed in the map.
