*Cakile maritima Scopoli ssp. maritima . Common name: European Sea-rocket. Habitat: Beaches, at or near the wrack line. Distribution: Native of Europe. The NC location was on ballast at Wilmington, and is apparently not persistent; locations in VA and northwards are well-established.

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Taxonomy Comments: The other subspecies are also European but are apparently not introduced in our area.

Synonymy : = FNA7, NY, Va, Al-Shehbaz (1985b), Rodman (1974), Stace (2021); = Cakile cakile (L.) H.Karst. — S, S13; = n/a — RAB, Tat; < Cakile maritima Scop. — C, F, G, K4, Rollins (1993). Basionym: Cakile maritima Scop. 1772
