*Carex hirta Linnaeus. Phenology: Jun-Aug. Habitat: Dry sandy areas. Distribution: Native of Europe. The report of C. hirta for NC (Burk 1961, RAB) is based on a misidentification of C. pumila (Reznicek 1993).
