*Carex hirta Linnaeus. Section: [26pp] Section 29 Carex. Phenology: Jun-Aug. Habitat: Dry sandy areas. Distribution: Native of Europe. The report of C. hirta for NC (Burk 1961, RAB) is based on a misidentification of C. pumila (Reznicek 1993).

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Synonymy : = C, Can, F, FNA23, G, Il, K4, Mi, NE, NS, NY, Pa, POWO, Mackenzie (1931-1935). Basionym: Carex hirta L. 1753
