Carex schweinitzii Dewey ex Schweinitz. Section: [26qq] Section 30 Vesicariae. Common name: Schweinitz's Sedge. Phenology: Jun. Habitat: Calcareous fens, spring marshes, seeps, wet meadows, bogs. Distribution: VT west to n. MI, south to NJ (and MO?); disjunct in NL (Newfoundland).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Other Comments: The distribution of this species is local and fragmented. Reported occurrences of C. schweinitzii in w. NC are based on misidentification of C. utriculata.
