Carex vesicaria Linnaeus. Section: [26qq] Section 30 Vesicariae. Common name: Inflated Sedge. Phenology: May-Aug. Habitat: Bogs, spring marshes, depression ponds, mafic fens. Distribution: Circumboreal, ranging south in North America to DE, w. VA, nw. NC, KY, IN, MO, NM, and CA.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Eastern North American plants have sometimes been separated as a different species, C. monile, or variety, C. vesicaria var. monile (see synonymy).
