Carex gracilescens Steudel. Section: [26bb] Section 19 Laxiflorae. Common name: Slender Loose-flowered Sedge. Phenology: Apr-Jun. Habitat: Moist, nutrient-rich forests, calcareous hammocks. Distribution: VT and s. QC west to WI, south to SC, AL, LA, and e. TX; disjunct in sw. GA and Panhandle FL.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Naczi (1999b) reported a chromosome number of n = 17, 19, 20.
