Carex inops L.H. Bailey ssp. heliophila (Mackenzie) Crins. Section: [26bbb] Section 39 Acrocystis. Common name: Plains Sedge. Phenology: Apr-Jun. Habitat: Dry to mesic upland forests, sandy, loamy, or loess prairies. Distribution: ON west to BC, south to MI, IN, IL, MO, OK, NM, and WA.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Synonymy : = Can, FNA23, K4, Mi, Mo1, NS, POWO; = Carex heliophila Mack. — GrPl, Il, Mackenzie (1931-1935); = Carex pensylvanica Lam. var. digyna Boeckeler — C. Basionym: Carex heliophila Mack. 1913
