Carex gynandra Schweinitz. Section: [26r] Section 13 Phacocystis. Common name: Nodding Sedge. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Bogs, swamp forests, seepages, beaver wetlands. Distribution: NL (Newfoundland) west to MN, south to WI, n. VA, w. NC, n. GA, e. TN, OH, and WI. This is the most montane and northern element of the C. crinita complex, and the usual one encountered in the Mountains of our area.
