Carex lonchocarpa Willdenow. Section: [26ss] Section 32 Rostrales. Common name: Southern Long Sedge. Phenology: May-Jul. Habitat: Pocosin margins, small blackwater stream swamps, bogs. Distribution: S. MD south to ne. FL and Panhandle FL, west to e. TX; rarely inland, as in sc. TN.

Taxonomy Comments: Recognition of C. lonchocarpa at the species level is supported by its distinctive achene micromorphology (Wujek & Menapace 1986).
