Carex turgescens Torrey. Section: [26ss] Section 32 Rostrales. Common name: Pinebarren Sedge. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Sandhill seepage bogs, streamhead pocosins, pocosin-sandhill ecotones, canebrakes, cypress domes and stringers, in highly acidic, sandy-peaty soils. Distribution: Sc. NC south to Panhandle FL, west to se. LA, a Southeastern Coastal Plain endemic.
