Carex vestita Willdenow. Section: [26oo] Section 28 Paludosae. Common name: Velvet Sedge. Phenology: Apr-May. Habitat: Low forests, bogs, seepage swamps, wet clearings and depressions. Distribution: S. ME south to se. VA, sc. TN (historical), c. NC, and ne. AL (Dekalb Co.; Naczi 2891). See Ungberg (2022) for discussion of its occurrence in NC.
