*Carex spicata Hudson. Section: [26d] Section 4.0 Phaestoglochin. Common name: Prickly Sedge. Phenology: May-Jul. Habitat: Fields, lawns, cracks in sidewalks. Distribution: Native of Europe and w. Asia. Reported as south to s. NJ, n. DE, c. MD. VA reports said to be erroneous in FNA, but correct records have been recorded since. Undoubtedly more common than records indicate.
