Ceanothus microphyllus Michaux. Sandhill Ceanothus. Phen: Mar-Apr. Hab: Longleaf pine sandhills. Dist: E. GA south to c. peninsular FL, west to s. AL, approaching to within a few kilometers of SC (in Screven and Chatham counties, GA), and should be sought in se. SC (except that its outlandish appearance makes it difficult to overlook!).

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: C. ×serpyllifolius Nuttall (pro sp.) is apparently a hybrid of C. americanus var. intermedius and C. microphyllus (Coile 1988); it is known from scattered sites in FL and GA.
