not marked as a favorite taxon Cerastium velutinum Rafinesque var. villosissimum (Pennell) J.K. Morton. Common name: Octoraro Creek Chickweed. Phenology: May-Aug. Habitat: Serpentine barrens. Distribution: This taxon is highly restricted, found only at a few stations in the serpentine barrens of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and Cecil County, Maryland (Gustafson et al. 2003). Reports from New Jersey are in error.
