Cercis canadensis Linnaeus var. mexicana (Rose) M. Hopkins. Mexican Redbud. Phen: (Jan-) Mar-Apr. Hab: Rocky limestone areas. Dist: Scattered from nc. OK to e. and wc. TX, south into Mexico along the Sierra Madre Oriental.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Cercis canadensis var. mexicana and C. canadensis var. texensis have similar distributions (though with different areas of greatest abundance) and appear to differ morphologically primarily in hairiness (see key).
