Cyperus dentatus Torrey. Common name: Toothed Flatsedge. Phenology: Jul-Oct. Habitat: Low sandy areas, sand and cobble bars, sandy shorelines, Shenandoah Valley sinkhole ponds. Distribution: NS and QC south to n. VA; disjunct inland in w. VA, se. TN, and nw. IN. Previous reports from further south in the Coastal Plain appear to be based on material of C. lecontei.

ID notes: A distinctive feature of this species is the usual presence of proliferous bulblets in the spikelets.
