Horticultural Information

NCBG trait

Intro: Erect to spreading perennial of agricultural fields, woodland borders and open, disturbed areas.

Stems: Stems 1-many from a single crown, unbranched, smooth below but densely hairy above.

Leaves: Leaves alternate; on petioles with hairy, clasping, oval stipules; divided into 3 hairy, oval leaflets with pointed tips.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in branching, lax terminal and axillary spikes; pinkish-purple turning green or white; about 1/4 in. long; bilaterally symmetric and with typical pea-flower shape and a furry calyx tube.

Fruits: Fruit a hairy, flattened pod with constrictions between 4-6 seeds.
