not marked as a favorite taxon Diarrhena americana Palisot de Beauvois. Common name: Eastern Beakgrain. Phenology: Jul-Aug; Aug-Oct. Habitat: Rich moist forests, usually over calcareous rocks. Distribution: W. Virginia and West Virginia west to Indiana, south to Tennessee, sw. North Carolina, and nw. Georgia (Jones & Coile 1988); disjunct west of the Mississippi in Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
