Dioscorea floridana Bartlett. Section: Macropoda. Common name: Florida Wild Yam. Phenology: Jun-Jul; Aug-Nov. Habitat: Mesic to dry forests, swampy forests. Distribution: SC south to n. FL, on the Coastal Plain.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: D. floridana is "the most distinctive of North American species" (Al-Shehbaz & Schubert 1989).
