*Echinochloa colonum (Linnaeus) Link ssp. colonum. Common name: Jungle-rice. Phenology: Jul-Oct (-Jun). Habitat: Fields, ditches, disturbed wet areas. Distribution: Native of the Old World tropics.

Origin/Endemic status: Paleotropics

Taxonomy Comments: The debate over the appropriate grammatical treatment and therefore spelling of the epithet is discussed in detail in Ward (2005b).
