Euonymus obovatus Nuttall. Common name: Running Strawberry-bush. Phenology: May-Jun; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Cove forests, northern hardwood forests, other mesic forests, especially in boulderfields, where sometimes locally abundant. Distribution: W. NY west to s. MI, south to sw. NC, ne. GA, TN, and n. AR.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Two separate species may be confused in this concept; plants of the Southern Blue Ridge differ from plants in the more northern and western distribution, and are disjunct; additional study is needed.
