*Furcraea selloa K. Koch. Common name: Wild Sisal. Phenology: Oct-Feb. Habitat: Dry, disturbed areas near old homesites. Distribution: Native of Colombia; introduced in Central America and Mexico, rarely escaped in peninsular FL.
Origin/Endemic status: Neotropics
Other Comments: This species has strong fiber and has traditionally been used in making ropes and twine. Inflorescences can grow to 10 meters.
