Gentiana latidens (House) J.S. Pringle & Weakley. Section: Pneumonanthe. Common name: Balsam Mountain Gentian. Phenology: Sep-Oct. Habitat: Moist, often seeping, more or less open sites on rocky slopes. Distribution: Restricted to the higher mountains of NC south of Asheville, NC (Haywood, Jackson, Macon, and Transylvania counties).
