*Hordeum brachyantherum Nevski. Common name: Meadow Barley. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Disturbed areas, probably only a waif in our area. Distribution: Native of w. North America and ne. Asia. Reported for se. PA (Rhoads & Klein 1993) and also apparently known from specimens from GA (Sorrie, pers. comm.), and scattered sites elsewhere in our area.

Taxonomy Comments: A tetraploid taxon, with poorly understood origin and evolution, but best treated as specifically distinct from the diploid H. californicum Covas & Stebbins (Carmona et al. 2016) and the unnamed hexaploid cytotype often included within H. brachyantherum ssp. brachyantherum.
