Intro: Prostrate, herbaceous perennial vine found on beaches, dune blowouts and fore-dunes.
Stems: Stems trailing, rooting at nodes, smooth.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, petiolate, oblong, to 2 in. long, sometimes lobed, leathery and smooth.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers solitary on stalks from leaf axils, white with yellow throat, to 2 in. long, tubular-funnel-shaped and consisting of 5 united petals (there is a suggestion of separate petal lobes at the rim); 5 elliptic-oval sepals with toothed tips surround the base of the flower, and 5 stamens and a style are visible in the corolla throat.
Fruits: Fruit a nearly round capsule.
