Justicia cooleyi Monachino & Leonard. Common name: Cooley’s Water-willow, Cooley’s Justicia. Phenology: Aug-Jan (-Jul). Habitat: Calcareous hammocks. Distribution: Endemic to nc. peninsular FL (Lake, Sumter, and Hernando counties).
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Taxonomy Comments: Daniel (2013) argued that J. cooleyi merely represents disjunct populations of the neotropical J. pringlei. Wunderlin, Hansen, & Franck (2019) additionally treated the populations in FL as introduced.
