*Ligustrum tschonoskii Decaisne. Common name: Tschonosky Privet. Phenology: Jun-Jul. Habitat: Suburban forests. Distribution: Native of Japan, Korea, and Sakhalin. Known in the flora area "only from the woods along the bank of Rock Creek in Rock Creek Park" (Nesom 2009a; Shetler and Orli 2000)
Origin/Endemic status: E., se., and s. Asia
Taxonomy Comments: Two varieties within L. tschonoskii were recognized by Noshiro (1985), distinguished by slight and overlapping size differences. Var. tschonoskii is restricted in native range to Japan; var. kiyozumianum (Nakai) Ohwi occurs in Japan and Korea.
