*Malus ×platycarpa Rehder. Common name: Broadfruit Crabapple. Phenology: May; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Woodlands, fencerows, field margins. Distribution: VA south to GA.
Origin/Endemic status: Garden origin
Taxonomy Comments: Probably of hybrid origin between M. coronaria and M. domestica, most often encountered in areas where domestic apples are cultivated in vicinity of native crabapples.
