*Malus domestica (Suckow) Borkhausen. Common name: Common Apple. Phenology: Apr-May; Jul-Oct. Habitat: Commonly cultivated throughout, especially in the Mountains and Piedmont, and long persistent. Distribution: Native of Asia.

Origin/Endemic status: W. Asia

Taxonomy Comments: Qian, Liu, & Tang's (2010) proposal to conserve the name Malus domestica (against M. pumila, M. communis, M. frutescens, and Pyrus dioica) was approved at the Shenzhen Botanical Congress held in Jul 2017.
