Origin/Endemic status: Subsaharan Africa

Synonymy : = Fl2, FNA3, NS, WH3; Nymphaea zanzibariensis Casp. = Nymphaea nouchali var. zanzibarensis — POWO; < Nymphaea capensis Thunb. — GW2, K4. Basionym: Nymphaea zanzibariensis Casp. 1877
