Polypodium appalachianum Haufler & Windham. Common name: Appalachian Rockcap Fern, Appalachian Rock Polypody. Phenology: Jun-Oct. Habitat: Moist rocks at low to high elevations, especially in ravines, on north-facing outcrops, and in other moist sites, rarely epiphytic on tree trunks. Distribution: NL (Newfoundland) west to e. ON, south to n. GA and n. AL; nearly restricted to the Appalachian Mountains.
