Quercus minima (Sargent) Small. Subgenus: Quercus. Section: Virentes. Dwarf Live Oak; Runner Oak. Phen: Apr; Sep-Nov (of the same year). Hab: Florida dry prairies, dry to wet pine flatwoods, coastal fringe sandhills, pine rocklands. Dist: Se. NC (New Hanover County) south to s. FL, west to s. MS.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: This is one of the lowest-growing oak species in our flora, flowering and fruiting in often dense, geoxylic stands in dry-mesic, fire-prone habitats. Along with Aristida beyrichiana and Serenoa repens, it is one of the co-dominant species in Florida dry prairies.

Synonymy : = Fl2, FNA3, K1, K3, K4, S, S13, WH3; = n/a – RAB; = Quercus virens Aiton var. dentata Chapm.
