Sarracenia alata Alph. Wood. Common name: Pale Pitcherplant. Phenology: Mar-Apr. Habitat: Pine savanna, seepage bog. Distribution: S. AL west to e. TX.

Taxonomy Comments: Carstens & Satler (2013) argued that this species as defined includes two cryptic species, one east of the Mississippi River (S. alata s.s.) and one west of the Mississippi River (Sarracenia sp. nov.). The western segregate has not been named.
