Stachys appalachiana D.B. Poindexter & J.B. Nelson. Habitat: Fens, usually over mafic or ultramafic rocks. Distribution: Apparently endemic to nw. North Carolina (Alleghany, Ashe, and Watauga counties) and sw. Virginia (Carroll, Floyd, and Grayson counties).
