Stachys cordata Riddell. Common name: Heart-leaved Hedge-nettle. Phenology: Jun-Aug; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Moist forests, especially alluvial bottomlands or over calcareous rocks. Distribution: NY west to IL, south to SC, GA, AL, and AR.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Primarily montane, but extending east to Stokes County, NC, and Campbell County, VA. See Pringle (2002) for a discussion of nomenclature. Floden (2015) recognizes S. salvioides as separate from S. cordata.
