Stenanthium densum (Desrousseaux) Zomlefer & Judd. Common name: Crow-poison, Osceola-plume. Phenology: Apr-early Jun; late May-Jul. Habitat: Pine savannas, pine flatwoods. Distribution: Se. VA south to c. peninsular FL and west to s. MS, on the Coastal Plain.

Intro: Erect perennial from a bulb found in pine savannas and pine flatwoods.
Stems: Stem smooth, unbranched, with a few small bracts.
Leaves: Basal leaves crowded, ascending, grasslike, 4--20 in. long and less than ½ in. wide, with lengthwise crease; stem leaves few, short, alternate.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers in a dense, cylindrical raceme to 6 in. tall at top of scape, opening successively from the bottom upward; creamy white to greenish (turning pink with time); about â…“ in. wide; consisting of 6 oval, nearly blunt-tipped tepals, a white, conical ovary and 6 stamens.
Fruits: Fruit a conical, 3-lobed capsule.
