*Striga gesnerioides (Willdenow) Vatke. Common name: Cowpea Witchweed, Tobacco Witchweed. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Cultivated fields, parasitic on Fabaceae (specifically Indigofera hirsuta and Alysicarpus ovalifolius in our area). Distribution: Native of the Old World.

Origin/Endemic status: Subsaharan Africa

Synonymy : = Fl7, FNA17, K4, WH3; Buchnera gesnerioides Willdenow. Basionym: Buchnera gesnerioides Willd. 1800
