Symphyotrichum tenuifolium (Linnaeus) Nesom. Common name: Perennial Salt-marsh Aster. Phenology: Jun-Nov. Habitat: Brackish marsh. Distribution: ME south to s. peninsular FL, west to se. TX.
ID notes: This species can be distinguished from S. subulatum by its taproot and annual habit (vs. rhizomatous perennial), fewer disc floret (4-13 vs. 16-30), and narrower ray floret.
