Intro: Spreading-erect annual/biennial of fields, roadsides and disturbed areas. Native of Eurasia.

Stems: Stems simple to much-branched, covered with flattened hairs.

Leaves: Leaves alternate, on petioles with stipules of about equal length, divided into 3 oblong-lance-shaped leaflets that are 1/2-3/4 in. long and finely toothed (except near the base).

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers densely packed into cylindric-oval heads ½--4/3 in. long; each flower is yellow turning creamy and then rust brown, tiny, bilaterally symmetric, with typical pea-flower shape.
