Intro: Erect to sprawling annual of roadsides, fields, lawns and disturbed areas. Native of Eurasia.

Stems: Stems branched, hairy.

Leaves: Leaves alternate, on petioles with a pair of stipules at the base, pinnately divided into 3 oval leaflets, each of which is about 1/2 in. long, finely toothed and smooth; the center leaflet is on a longer stalk.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in short-cylindric heads, about 1/2 in. wide, borne on hairy stalks from leaf axils; yellow; tiny; bilaterally symmetric and with typical pea-flower shape, the "banner" petal with conspicuous grooves or veins.

Fruits: Fruit a tiny, 1-seeded pod.
