Vernonia marginata (Torrey) Rafinesque. Common name: Plains Ironweed. Phenology: Jul-Aug. Habitat: Along streams, low areas, wet pastures. Distribution: Sw. KS and CO south to c. and w. TX, NM, AZ, and n. Mexico (CHH, COA).
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Vernonia ×vulturina Shinners (pro sp.) is now considered to be a hybrid of Vernonia baldwinii × marginata.
