Viburnum lantanoides Michaux. Common name: Hobblebush, Witch's-hobble, Tangle-legs, Moosewood. Phenology: Apr-early Jun; Jun-Jul (-Oct). Habitat: Spruce-fir forests, northern hardwood forests, boulderfields, southwards (as in the Southern Blue Ridge of NC, TC, sw. VA, and n. GA) primarily over 1000 m elevation. Usually cool, mesic forested sites. Distribution: New Brunswick and Ontario south to w. North Carolina, ne. Georgia (Towns Co., historical), e. Tennessee, w. Kentucky (Harlan County), and ne. Ohio.
