Viburnum lentago Linnaeus. Common name: Nannyberry, Sheepberry. Phenology: May-Jun; late Jul-Aug. Habitat: Shrubby stream-bottoms, other wetlands and wetland margins, also in rocky or sandy uplands. Distribution: New Brunswick and Saskatchewan south to w. Virginia, sw. North Carolina, Missouri, and Colorado. Reported in the past for Georgia (Kartesz 1999) and from Alabama; these reports appear to be based on misidentifications. Also reported as naturalizing from plantings in Alexandria, Virginia (Steury 2011).
